Kirk Hammett:

Kirk was born November 18, 1962, he is 47 years old. He comes from San Francisco. Right know he is married to his wife Lani and has two children called Angel Ray Keala Hammett and Vincenzo Kainalu. In the band Metallica, Kirk plays the guitar and does background vocals. Kirk has brown eyes and brown hair, he is five feet 8 inches tall. He was interested in music since he was a young boy and at the age of 15 grabbed a guitar and started experimenting. It was in April 1983 when he got the call from Metallica to come to audition. At that time the band was in the process of firing their guitarist Dave Mustaine. He put the money together for the flight of California to New York, that was the first time he ever left California. After the 'Black' album tour ended in 1993, he went to City College of San Francisco, this is something he credits or thanks as the reason behind his reinvention as a guitarist on the 'Load' and 'Re-load' albums. During the 'Load' era, Kirk started sharing 6-string duties with James. He now lives happy with his wife, kids, and two dogs Darla and Hoku. He also has some cats.
